German poker pro Fabian Quoss has beaten some of the best poker players in the world to take down the $100,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Super High Roller tournament for a $1,629,940 first prize.

Quoss, who made final tables last year in four major tournaments, was thrilled to win his first major title. He said: “2013 was a tough year for me and not a lot of luck went my way. But I had a big flip yesterday and I just knew I was going to win that flip, and I now feel like my luck is going to change in 2014. Obviously I am very happy that I finally took down a big title.”

Quoss beat American businessman Dan Shak heads-up to win the event which attracted 46 players. It was Shak’s third consecutive PCA Super High Roller final table – he was runner-up to Viktor "Isildur1" Blom two years ago and finished eighth last year.

As well as his massive cash prize, Quoss, 31, from Nuremberg, also receives a prestigious trophy and stunning ‘Steel and Diamond’ design watch worth €15,600 from luxury Swiss brand SLYDE, the Official Bracelet Sponsor of PCA 2014. This is Quoss’s biggest score in live poker tournaments and takes his overall lifetime poker earnings to $4.9 million, catapulting him from tenth on the all-time Germany money list to fourth.

Shak took $1,178,980 for his runner-up finish while Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst, who was eliminated by Quoss in third place, snagged $760,640 – taking her lifetime tournament winnings to over $9 million.

A total of 46 unique players entered the tournament this year, with a further ten re-entries bringing the total to 56 and generating a $5,433,120 prize pool.

The leader of the all-time money list, Antonio Esfandiari, came fourth for $575,920. Matt Glantz, who won the 2009 EPT London High Roller, came fifth for $445,520. Tony Gregg, Ole Schemion and Mike McDonald rounded out the prizes in sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
