Third murder for 2014

A man was shot and killed on Taylor Street, off East Street, last night, police said.

He became the third murder victim for the new year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson said police responded to reports of a shooting around 8 p.m. and found the man's body in a parking lot.

Ferguson said he had multiple gunshot wounds to his upper back.

"Our initial information that we are working with at the moment is that occupants of a small, gold vehicle were in the area discharging firearms," Ferguson said.

"These persons are very likely to be responsible for this fatal shooting.

"We area asking members of the public who may have information in connection with this latest homicide to make contact with the police and provide us with all necessary information."

On Wednesday, police said a man was shot and killed on Hospital Lane around 2 a.m. Police said the assailant approached the man who was sitting in his car and shot him several times and fled on foot.

Police also said two men were shot on Buttonwood Avenue in Pinewood Gardens around 7 p.m.

The men were sitting in front of an apartment complex when someone drove up and shot them, police said.

One of the men died at the scene and the second was take to hospital.
