Food retailer eyes 2.5m expansion

By ALISON LOWE Business Reporter alowe@tribunemedia.net HITTING back at those who he claims have sought to "destroy" his company's reputation, Phil Lightbourne, owner of Phil's Food Services, has revealed plans for a $2.5 million store expansion beginning in January 2011, which will result in at least 50 new jobs at the growing grocery retailer. Mr Lightbourne, who already employs 125 people at the Gladstone Road food store which opened in December 2009, said the expansion will involve an increase in the number and variety of retail lines at Phil's, with a special focus on growing their produce sales in the wake of the Prime Bahamas/Bahamas Food Services merger.
