Grenade thrown into Punch building

The police force's bomb squad detonated a hand grenade that was found in The Punch Publications Limited building on Farrington Road, late Monday night.
Officers responding to the building's alarm, which was activated around 11:45 p.m., met the entrance door smashed in, police said.
The grenade was just inside the reception area, according to police.
No one was inside the building at the time of the incident.
When The Nassau Guardian arrived, several officers were processing the scene and preparing to conduct a controlled detonation, according to officers.
After more than an hour, an officer wearing a blast suit carrying denotation equipment cleared the remaining glass from the entrance door and entered the building.
A short while later the street was cleared and the order was given to detonate the grenade.
The explosion caused some damage to the reception area, but the rest of the building was not affected.
Jill Albury, The Punch's marketing manager, said she was alerted about the alarm being triggered around midnight and drove to the building.
Albury said she was shocked to learn that someone had attacked The Punch, and was thankful that the grenade did not explode as intended.
She said the organization has received threats in the past, but none was made recently.
The Punch was opened for business yesterday.
Asked whether the company considered shutting its doors, Albury said, "We will continue to roll as usual".
Accounts Manager Charlene Johnson said the attack has unnerved staff and the possibility of a future attack is concerning.
Johnson said the incident will bring about new security policies, which The Punch hopes will prove effective in the event of a future attack.
Publisher of The Punch Ivan Johnson was reportedly off the island yesterday.
Superintendent Stephen Dean said the grenade was being forensically accessed.
