Two little girls, ages seven and nine, and a five year old boy. These are some of the children in The Bahamas whose lives have been touched by the RBC Caribbean Children's Cancer Fund.

Osteogenic sarcoma, Burkitt lymphoma and maxillary sinus alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma are the big diseases these little children are battling. This week, RBC launched its annual Children's Cancer Fund Initiative. RBC invites the public to once again partner with it in providing hope, support and strength to these and other children around the region fighting cancer.

The RBC Caribbean Children's Cancer Fund was established five years ago. The Children's Cancer Fund was established to provide support for children in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean suffering from cancer. Towards achieving this goal, RBC partnered with the Cancer Treatment Foundation and committed $1 million to the fund. Since its launch, RBC employees across the region have carried out annual fundraisers in support of the RBC Caribbean Children's Cancer Fund. To date the fund has provided treatment for 26 patients and pathology tests for 78 children from across the Caribbean.

"We are honored to once again support the RBC Caribbean Children's Cancer Fund," said Nathaniel Beneby, market head, personal banking in The Bahamas, Cayman and Turks and Caicos Islands. Beneby thanked those individuals who have contributed to the initiative over the years. He encouraged other members of the public to support the RBC Caribbean Children's Cancer Fund.

"Pediatric cancer is a big disease which attacks the smallest and most vulnerable among us - our children. Join us in supporting children within our community diagnosed with cancer and their families. Join us in giving hope and saving lives," he said.

Beginning this week and until the end of October 2013, the general public can participate in RBC's branch-fundraising. People can come into any RBC branch and show their support by depositing money directly to the RBC Caribbean Children's Cancer Fund account. All donations will benefit the RBC Caribbean Children's Fund.

Parents or guardians of children 16 years and under, who are diagnosed with cancer and reside in The Bahamas, are encouraged to apply for assistance online at the Children's Cancer Fund website. For more information about the fund, go to http://givehopesavelives.rbtt.com.
