Baha Mar executives plan to launch an aggressive educational campaign in the next two weeks in an effort to educate and prepare Bahamians for the resort's opening, set for December 2014.
In addition to its popular Dream Team ads, there are plans to print and distribute 10,000 copies of a detailed 22-page document entitled, "An investment paying off for all Bahamians" to persons throughout the archipelago.
Robert 'Sandy' Sands, senior vice president of administration and external relations, confirmed that the document will be printed locally on recycled paper, and distribution is expected to begin within the next 10 to 14 days. The book's distribution is part of Baha Mar's four-month educational campaign, which will also have a social media component.
Sands stressed that the Baha Mar team is focused on getting the resort's message out to all Bahamians.
"We have always said that Baha Mar is good for The Bahamas and good for Bahamians through the demonstration of the economic impact of this transformative project. These benefits are seen to produce benefits for generations to come. We are extremely proud that we as a company can make a contribution to the future economic wellbeing of our country," he noted.
"We're looking at very wide distribution across the entire Bahamas, within the communities and through a wide cross-section of Bahamians. We have blanketed as much perspective in terms of persons as well as social media to get the message out there."
Sands said the upcoming campaign is a "call to action" to make Bahamians aware of the opportunities that will be available through Baha Mar, whether it's through direct employment or potential entrepreneurial opportunities.
"We consider ourselves a brand that's catering to the international market by offering the best-in-class service going forward, as we will not only be accruing opportunities for persons that we hire within our resort but we will also be creating tremendous entrepreneurial opportunities for multiple Bahamian companies, as we have already demonstrated, who have participated in large numbers in the development of this project," he pointed out to Guardian Business.
Royann Dean, Baha Mar's public relations and communications strategist, is stressing the fact that the available opportunities at Baha Mar are not limited to New Providence. In fact, she encouraged all Bahamian students, whether in high school or college, to study hard and to be prepared for Baha Mar's opening.
"The call to action is essentially to know that Baha Mar is a company of high standards. So if you want to be a part of Baha Mar, that means that if you are high school or college students, study hard at what you do and do something that you are passionate about because there are opportunities throughout the company that are not confined to what we traditionally think of as jobs within the hospitality industry," she said.
