A severe thunderstorm watch is now in effect for Central Andros, New Providence and South and Central Abaco and its adjacent waters and cays.

At 2:35 pm edt radar and satellite data indicated a line of severe thunderstorms moving northeastwards towards and across the aforementioned areas. Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, flooding in low-lying areas, heavy downpours and possible waterspout or tornadic activity.

Boaters in the watch areas should seek safe harbour and residents in the watch areas should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents should also protect themselves in flood prone areas.
