Teen arrested in probe of murdered American

Police arrested a teenager who they believe may have information on the murder of an American visitor on Sunday, Assistant Commissioner Anthony Ferguson said yesterday.
Antone Bastian, aka 'Lolly', 19, of Abraham Street, off Kemp Road, was one of two teenagers police were looking for.
Ferguson said police were also hoping to talk to Leo Bethel, 18, of Balls Alley.
Wanted posters were issued yesterday for both men during a press conference at the Central Detective Unit (CDU).
Ferguson said Bastian was arrested around noon.
Kyle Bruner, 34, of Chicago, Illinois, was shot during an armed robbery near the intersection of Mackey Street and East Bay Street, police said.
According to preliminary reports, two men followed Bruner, another man and two women after they left Hammerheads Bar and Grill on East Bay Street around 4:30 a.m.
Police said the men, one of whom was armed, confronted Bruner and his friends on Mackey Street and demanded their belongings.
During the hold-up, one of the women reportedly got into a scuffle with one of the assailants.
Police said Bruner attempted to confront the gunman and was shot in the neck.
He died on the scene.
Police have pledged to increase their patrols in the wake of Bruner's murder.
"This is a very unfortunate incident," Ferguson said. "We as members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force are very concerned whenever somebody is killed in such a way as the U.S. resident was killed on Sunday morning.
"...I can say that members of the public will see more of us and the criminals will be feeling [our presence] much more. Bahamians need to come together and provide the assistance that is necessary.
"The police can not do it alone. We must understand that this is our country. We have to be responsible and to ensure that the handful of people who are running around and robbing people and shooting people can not continue [to do so].
"So we want to encourage people to provide us with information on those people who are considered armed and dangerous."
Bruner, who was a boat mate on the Liberty Clipper, which was docked at Nassau Yacht Haven, will be missed by his crew mates, according to Captain Chris Shaw.
Shaw told The Nassau Guardian yesterday that the Lady Clipper set sail yesterday.
He said it is sad that the crew had to leave without Bruner.
"We are still shocked that he's gone," Shaw said.
Police also identified the second man who was murdered in a separate incident on Sunday morning as Wiscally Genois, 22, of Podoleo Street.
Genois was killed around 2 a.m. at the East Street South Shopping Plaza.
Police said he was standing outside a business along with a group of people when he was approached and shot multiple times by a man.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the shooter ran east behind the plaza into the Joan's Heights area.
It is believed that he later escaped the area on a motorcycle.
Ferguson said police were following significant leads, but appealed to members of the community who may have information on either murder to contact them at 911, 919, Crimestoppers at 328-TIPS or CDU at 502-9991.
