A witness testified yesterday that Prince Hepburn told her he killed his lover because she broke his heart when she cheated on him.
Hepburn is accused of murdering Nellie Mae Brown-Cox, a charity worker, in 2011.
Anya James testified that Hepburn admitted to her that he killed Brown-Cox just hours before she (James) contacted him on the morning of April 7, 2011.
Hepburn, who was building James' home, has denied the murder charge.
James said she called Hepburn that day to check on the progress of her home. When he didn't answer the first time, she said she called again.
When he answered the second call she said she was shocked by what he revealed.
"He said to me, 'I kill Nellie. Nellie break my heart. Nellie was cheating on me'," James told the court.
Describing Hepburn as a polite man, the witness admitted that she initially did not believe him.
"I said, 'You're joking. Where's Nellie?' And he said 'Nellie is dead'," James added.
She said Hepburn then told her that he contacted the police and was waiting on them to arrive.
James said she ended the call and went about her business as normal.
However, she said when she arrived at work a short time later, she contacted Assistant Superintendent Derek Burrows and reported the crime.
During her testimony, James who had to pause frequently to compose herself, eventually sat down.
She said Hepburn called her on her cell phone from an unknown number a few days after Brown-Cox's murder.
James said when she answered the call, Hepburn said, "Boss lady, I'm sorry."
James said she got nervous and asked Hepburn where he was. She said he told her that he was "right here".
She said she then passed the phone to her husband.
James said she knew Brown-Cox because Hepburn introduced them. She said Hepburn told her Brown-Cox was an inspector.
During cross examination, James said she and her husband traveled to the United States with Hepburn and Brown-Cox to shop for fixtures for the house Hepburn was building for Brown-Cox.
James said she used the opportunity to shop for goods for her home.
She said it was clear that Hepburn loved Brown-Cox very much and added that he would do anything she wanted him to do.

CUTLASSES
Crime scene investigator Dwayne Stubbs said he discovered Brown-Cox's body on the kitchen floor of an apartment in South Beach.
He said she had severe wounds across her body and was lying in a pool of blood.
Stubbs said the fingers on her right hand were missing and later found in a clothes basket in the bedroom.
He said blood stains were in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
Stubss said he also discovered two empty bottles of NyQuil and several empty packages of Tylenol on the bathroom floor.
He said a silver cutlass found near the victim's foot had the words "You're next George Sawyer NX" on one side and "This is what cheaters get" on the other side.
He said a second cutlass found in the bedroom had the words "Cheaters and Liars" on both sides.
Both cutlasses were displayed in court yesterday. Suspected dried blood marked both blades and both handles.
During cross examination, Stubbs admitted that he made a mistake on his police report where he indicated that one of the cutlasses was inscribed with the phrase, "This is what you get for cheating".
He admitted that he could not say who wrote those words on the cutlasses.
Another witness, crime scene investigator Tavares Moxey said he visited Hepburn at Princess Margaret Hospital on April 7 after he was arrested.
He said Hepburn was being examined by a Dr. Zhang.
Moxey said Hepburn signed a consent form permitting police to take DNA evidence, including a penis swab and samples of pubic hair and saliva.
Moxey said he took photos of Hepburn, who at the time had injuries to his chin, face, shoulder, hands, forearms and wrists.
Stubbs denied a suggestion from Hepburn's lawyer Murrio Ducille that the defendant did not sign the consent form.
Both Hepburn and Brown-Cox were married to other people.
Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Franklyn William, and attorneys Basil Cumberbatch and Kendra Kelly are prosecuting the case.
According to police, Brown-Cox was killed sometime between April 6 and April 7.
The trial continues today before Supreme Court Justice Indra Charles.
