Gibson, 14, captures national title

A total of 36 boats competed this past weekend at Montagu Bay in New Providence in the championship fleet of the 2010 Bahamas Opti National Championships. Sailors from New Providence took part, along with young sailors from Long Island, Abaco, Grand Bahama, Eleuthera and Harbour Island.
Three races were sailed on Saturday in light wind conditions and four races were completed on Sunday in eight to 11 knot winds.
Daniel Gibson, 14, from New Providence was crowned Bahamas Champion 2010. He sailed consistently, finishing among the top six sailors in all races except for a seventh place finish in race number two. This was the first time that he was awarded the Geoffrey Holowesko Championship Troph ...
