A new theatrical show and silent auction at Sandals Royal Bahamian has geared itself to be a major promoter of visual art in The Bahamas and a significant fundraiser for the efforts of The Sandals Foundation.

The show at Sandals Royal Bahamian called “Dream in Color”, which premiered this past Monday, is a display of dance and “live art” depicting the emotions of an artist.

“Dream in Color” features 16 dance numbers of various genres, from hip-hop to ballet. During the acts Bahamian artist Preston Hanna creates a one of a kind painting on a five foot sheet of glass.

Sandals Royal Bahamian’s guests take photographs of the painting during a meet and greet with the artist and the dancers after the show. The painting is then washed away forever until the next Monday’s performance where a whole new and unique painting is created once again.

In addition, every Monday Mr. Hanna donates one 12x16 painting for auction, with 100 per cent of the funds going to the efforts of The Sandals Foundation in The Bahamas.

“In The Bahamas we don’t have a lot of avenues to display our talents to the outside world and Sandals has provided me with this great opportunity. I am also glad to be contributing to The Sandals Foundation which does so much good in our community,” Mr. Hanna said.

Here in The Bahamas, The Sandals Foundation has become a major supporter of The PACE Foundation, The Bahamas AIDS Foundation, donated thousands of dollars to the Bahamas National Trust, sponsored math training for hundreds of Bahamian teachers, raised thousands of dollars for St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and exposed hundreds of children to the wonders of the country’s national parks through The Sandals Foundation Ride to Save the Wetlands.

“Dream in Color” is the brain child of Rhondi Smith, the Entertainment Director at Sandals Royal Bahamian who said that she created the show because she wanted the world to know that The Bahamas has world-class talent.

“Bahamian art is not just coconut trees and pictures of the ocean. When I saw the quality of Preston’s work, he inspired me to create this whole show. The silent auction not only allows our guest to take back with them a truly Bahamian piece of art, it provides exposure for artists like Preston and contributes to the work of The Sandals Foundation ,” Mrs. Smith said.
