The mother of the 22-year-old woman who was stabbed to death on Saturday said her daughter used a device on her ankle bracelet to call police for help hours before she was brutally murdered.
Olive Adderley, whose daughter Tracey Rolle was stabbed multiple times, said Rolle contacted police on Friday evening after she received several threats.
Adderley claimed that police collected Rolle from her home and took her complaint at the South Beach Police Station before taking her back to her residence.
Police confirmed that Rolle in fact complained about receiving threats, however police could not confirm whether she made a call the night before her death.
Rolle was killed inside her home on Bougainvillea Avenue early Saturday, police said. Her death came just over six years after her sister, Macy, was murdered.
A man has been arrested in connection with Tracey Rolle's murder.
Police said Rolle and another man had just arrived at the residence in South Beach around 4:30 a.m. when the attacker kicked in the front door and began stabbing them.
Rolle was previously charged with causing harm. She was wearing the ankle bracelet as a condition of her bail.
Police confirmed to The Nassau Guardian that the suspect was also wearing an electronic ankle bracelet and was on bail after being charged with causing harm.
It is unclear whether they were charged in connection with the same case.
Adderley said her daughter did not deserve to die the way she did.
She also claimed that her daughter attempted to alert the police when the assailant barged into the house.
"She had her ankle bracelet trying to get them," Adderley said. "But by the time as they got there it was too late."
Adderly said she wants Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade to personally look into the matter, insisting that the police should have done more.
According to family members, this was not the first time that Rolle was attacked.
Rolle's uncle Felton Williamson said that one month prior to her death, she asked him to take her to the hospital after she was stabbed.
"When I got there, there was a big gash in her thigh and her hand was cut," he said.
Williamson said this recent family tragedy brought the memories of Macy's murder back to the fore.
He said the family is devastated over both deaths.
According to Adderley, Macy died in December 2006 after she was shot. Her murder was never solved.
Williamson said police told the family the suspect in Macy's murdered was later killed.
Williamson, who reportedly shared a close relationship with Rolle, said the last time he saw her was last Wednesday.
He said she came to his house to talk to her younger sister, who lives with him most of the time.
"And I could hear her in the room giving her sister good counsel and good advice and telling her to behave herself," Williamson said.
Before Rolle left his home, Williamson said, she gave him a hug and said that she loved him.
"That was last time I spoke to her and saw her," he said. "I guess she came to say goodbye."
Williamson added that she may have known that her days were numbered.
While he admitted that she had her share of troubles he insisted that Rolle was trying to turn her life around.
Williamson said Rolle leaves behind a five-year-old son.
