Festival Noel Promises a Night of Fun Under the Stars

Fri, Dec 7th 2012, 11:00 AM

The Rand Nature Centre will be filled with lights and fun as "A Not So Silent Night" promises lively action during Festival Noel tonight. This popular annual event is the main fundraiser for the Grand Bahama branch of the Bahamas National Trust (BNT). Proceeds from the event go towards improving the natural habitats under the protection of the Bahamas National Trust, such as the Rand Nature Centre, Gold Rock beach, Peterson Cay and other important areas. Tickets have been reduced to $30 this year ($35 on the day of the event) and the organizers anticipate more people attending this year.

"We've changed things up this time around," said event organizer, Leigh Termath. "We reduced the price but are still including the wine sampling from Bristol Wines and Spirits. There are 33 different wines to try, from all over the world, so attendees can expect to sample their fill." In addition, the event will feature work from artists from Grand Bahama and Nassau. Many artists and crafters will be out, displaying and selling their handmade Bahamian items. It is a wonderful opportunity for people to buy one-of-a-kind jewelry and art for Christmas presents.

For those who prefer some brand name bling, Colombian Emeralds will be pulling out all the stops and showcasing a fabulous Christmas jewelry shopping experience. They are taking over the entire reception area, so everyone can expect a huge selection of jewelry, including Pandora charms to purchase. New this year will be a Gift Valet, sponsored and manned by staff of Kelly's Freeport. This means that you can buy your gift items and have them stored securely for the night, so you can continue to party away. In addition, food will be for sale in bite-size samplings.

The Festival Noel Committee has invited various restaurants to participate, including Red Beard's, Agave, Sparky's and Bahama John's, plus Sweet Affairs and Take the Cake for those who would like something sweet to eat with their wine. To add to the party, Bahamian Brewery, will once again be setting up their beer tent for those who do not want wine. In addition, there will be a mixed drink bar -- something for everyone. The musical entertainment has been "amped" up to ensure it will not be such a silent night.

Performing first will be "Upper Cut" a band comprised of local musicians. They will be providing music from the 60s and 70. The featured performer will be Ultra Vibes, starring the fabulous Methice Rigby who is known for their great dance music and we expect everyone will enjoy dancing under the stars. Festival Noel is a fun way to support the Bahamas National Trust, the staff of which have been busy this year, making significant improvements to the National Park system on Grand Bahama Island.

A gazebo has been built at Gold Rock beach, plus continued improvements to Ben's Cave, Petersen's Cay, the Rand Nature Centre and environmental education programs, have all increased the enjoyment of visitors to the national parks, while protecting our precious wildlife. Tickets can be purchased at the Rand Nature Centre, Bristol Wines & Spirits, Sweet Affairs and Barefoot Marketing.
