BSC Action Continues At Baillou Hills Fields

While their co-ed team remained unbeaten, Golden Gates Native Baptist dropped their first men's game as newcomer Anointed To Reign Ministry pulled off the upset to highlight the Baptist Sports Council's (BSC) 2012 Softball Classic regular season action on Saturday at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.

Anointed to Reign stunned Golden Gates, 15-14, as they made their debut into the league. However, before they could really celebrate, they suffered an 18-5 rout to the hands of St. Paul's in the second half of their scheduled double-header. Golden Gates still maintain their lead in the men's division at 2-1, while St. Paul's and Anointed To Reign are evened at 1-1 for second. Macedonia is listed at 0-1. 

In the co-ed division, Golden Gates had a field day with a 23-10 rout as they welcomed Evangelistic Temple into the league. Also, in a rematch of last year's finals, Golden Gates pounded St. Paul's, 19-7. Golden Gates pushed their win/loss record to 5-0, while St. Paul's hold onto second at 3-1. In other games played, St. Paul's co-ed blasted Ebenezer 13-2 and then defeated Salem 21-8. St. John's co-ed held off Macedonia, and Macedonia 19-and-under out-slugged Golden Gates, 13-5.

Anointed to Reign 15, Golden Gates 14 Tony St. Remy tripled and scored the winning run to help Anointed to Reign get the upset win. It was St. Remy's third run in the game. Steve Morley had a solo and a three-run home-run to lead the attack. Ramon Johnson had a perfect 4-for-4 day with a two-run homer. He had six RBIs in total with three runs scored. Richard Bain Jr. was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored, and Eugene Pratt was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. Junior Moss was the losing pitcher.

St. Paul's 18, Anointed To Reign 5 Robin Shepherd went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and a three-run triple, scoring three runs. Addie Finley was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer. Deval Storr was 2-for-4 with a pair of triples, scoring twice and Brad Wood Jr. had just one hit, but scored four times in their men's victory. Harold 'Banker' Fritzgerald was the winning pitcher and Alfred 'Skater' Munnings suffered the loss. Munnings helped his own cause with a two-run double and Adrian Major tripled and scored a run.

Golden Gates 19, St. Paul's 7 Richard Bain Jr. was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored and Eugene Pratt was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, scoring three times in their co-ed win. Ramon 'Shaky' Johnson was the winning pitcher. Marvelle Miller suffered the loss. Garvin Duncombe had a two-run homer and Miller was 1-for-1 with an RBI and two runs scored. St. John's 13, Macedonia 11 Torri Rolle was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, scoring four times and Keishlyn Taylor scored three times while Marvelle Miller added a two-run double in their co-ed win. Vernie Curry was the winning pitcher. Michael Ingraham was tagged with the loss. Kevin Moss was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, Tim Clarke was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored and Brian Capron was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Golden Gates 23, Evangelistic Temple 10 Richard Bain Jr. was 2-for-2 with a three-run and a two-run home-run. Anthon Rolle had a two-run homer and Ramon Johnson added a three-run homer, while Tikara Collie scored three times in their co-ed win. Ramon Johnson was the winning pitcher. Fred Tapier suffered the loss. Tapier had a three-run homer and he along with Danae Cash and Daniel Cash all scored two runs. St. Paul's 21, Salem 8 Addie Finley was 2-for-4 with a two-run and a three-run home-run. Chris McPhee had a two-run homer, Alcott Forbes a solo shot and Melissa Hall had a pair of doubles, scoring three times in St. Paul's co-ed win. Harold 'Banker' Fritzgerald got the win and Cadwell Taylor Jr. was tagged with the loss. Taylor Jr. went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and Ray King was 2-for-2 with an RBI double and a two-run triple.

St. Paul's 13, Ebenezer 2 Addie Finley and Keron Sands both had two-run home-runs, Shaunda Bethel was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Melissa Hall was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored and Joey McDonald had an RBI triple and scored twice in their co-ed win. Brad Wood Jr. was the winning pitcher. Geray Turner and Gloria Forbes scored the two runs in the loss. Macedonia 18, Ebenezer 7 Tim Clarke had a perfect 3-for-3 day with a pair of two-run home-runs.

Zhivargo Archer was 3-for-3 with a three-run homer and Courtney Smith was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer to lead Macedonia in their co-ed game. Michael Ingraham was the winning pitcher and Ellis Adderley suffered the loss. Adderley had an RBI single and scored a run, while McCoy Lewis had a two-run single and a run scored. Macedonia 13, Golden Gates 5 Zhivargo Archer was a perfect 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and Winton Hanna was 3-for-4 with four runs scored in Macedonia's 19-and-under win. Michael Ingraham was the winning pitcher and Kejanno Morley was the loser. Van Hutchinson Jr. was 2-for-3 with a two-run single in the loss.
