Abaco fuel costs to burden all BEC customers

By CHESTER ROBARDS Business Reporter crobards@tribunemedia.net MARSH Harbour, Abaco - Customers across the Bahamas will have to absorb in their monthly bills the fuel costs for the Bahamas Electricity Corporation's (BEC) new $100 million power station, it was revealed yesterday, although some $11 million in construction costs were saved through abandoning plans for a fuel pipeline. Michael Moss, BEC's chairman, said BEC's customers in New Providence and other Family Islands will have to partly finance the Wilson City plant's fuel costs, after it was decided that it would be too cumbersome just to bill Abaconians for their own fuel.
