A jury on Tuesday brought closure to the families of two murder victims when it convicted Jamal Armbrister in a third trial. The jury unanimously found Armbrister responsible for the deaths of Emico Russell and Shervin Miller Jr on January 26, 2007. However, the jury acquitted Armbrister's accused cohort, Jacob Woodside, of Russell's murder by a majority verdict of 10-2. Both men are currently serving 12-year sentences for the armed robbery of the Fantasy Lounge, which took place during Russell's murder.

Prosecutors claimed that Miller was shot twice in the head while the robbers fled the scene in his Ford Explorer. Miller's body was found in bushes near South Ocean. Armbrister next appears before Justice Roy Jones on February 1 for sentencing. Linda Evans, the prosecutor, told the court she was in consultation to determine if the Crown would seek the death penalty. A jury was unable to reach a verdict on the murder charges at the initial trial in 2009. A judge declared a mistrial last year after police failed to edit a prejudicial statement from the videotaped confessions of the accused. Shaka Serville represented Woodside and Jerome D'arceuil appeared for Armbrister.
