All of the funds raised at the fashion show luncheon will benefit persons pursuing education in all areas of healthcare. Created in 1999, in honor of the late Dr. Meyer Rassin, the Foundation is a philanthropic mechanism through which individuals, trusts, foundations, estates, businesses and other organization may invest in healthcare in the Bahamas.

President of the Foundation, Dr. Judson Eneas, encouraged those persons attending the luncheon to support the Foundation as its program is vital in enhancing the country?s healthcare field. Stated Dr. Eneas, ?Most of our students don?t have trust funds, they don?t have parental support and so many of them are working to try and save money to go to school, so anything they can get to help, will help.?

To date, the Foundation has granted scholarships and financial assistance to over forty (40) students in a variety of medical-related fields and allied health professions including but not limited to: pharmacy, medicine, biology, psychology, biochemistry, medical technology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, imaging technology, as well as midwifery and nurse practitioners.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors for their gracious support with the donation of door prizes, raffle prizes and silent auction prizes." said Michele Rassin, Foundation Director. ?The success of the ?Dollars for Scholars? event would not have been possible without the continued generous support from our sponsors, donors and participants. And on behalf of the Foundation, we would also like to extend a big thank you to Doctors Hospital for their commitment to education and healthcare in the Bahamas, by donating $114,000 to the Foundation for sponsorships. These funds will go a long way in helping Bahamian students pursue a career in the healthcare industry.?

Make UP In Canada  Thu, 2011/06/09 - 11:45 AM

This sounds like quite the event! I wish I was there! I wish I could see how everyone looked. I have heard that the make up in Canada is different than other styles. Is this true?
