Rally Remarks ? North Abaco By-Election: Renardo Curry Progressive Liberal Party Candidate

Mon, Oct 15th 2012, 11:39 AM

North Abaco, my North Abaco – Good Evening! We’re on the last leg now. Day after tomorrow, you will make your choice. Are you ready for a new day? Are you going to make me your choice? Well, I’ve made you mine.

Let me thank my wife for her kind words tonight, and for her official permission to share me with the Constituency of North Abaco for the next few years. I intend to be around for as long as she lets me. SO I’m going to keep you happy, and keep her happy at the same time. And, I ask you to make it easier on my wife and family by embracing them as you have embraced me.

Thank you, baby! Tonight is a special night for me, North Abaco. You know this all started with a Rally over a year ago. I came to you then wanting to be your choice in the General Election. I went up against a giant. I didn’t emerge victorious at first or so it seemed, the process to full victory was prolonged.

Now here I am, two nights before a new Member of Parliament will be announced, two nights before a new day will dawn, confident of victory. That giant is off the scene, his chapter has been closed. And come Wednesday the 17th of October, what has been prolonged will finally become a reality.

I want to thank you even now for the genuine interest and hospitality, you showed me and my team, as we knocked on doors, hearing your concerns and discussing the future of North Abaco. I want to thank you, North Abaco for the honesty of your fears and your tears, for the stories of your hardship and your dreams.

My final message tonight for you is an invitation to step in to a bright new future. We can leave the past now to the historians. But what this moment in our Constituency’s development is beckoning is a people bold enough to stand up tall and accept the challenges of building our communities together. Leadership, the kind of leadership that I represent is always about inspiring you to keep on moving forward together.

This has been the example of Prime Minister Christie, and the leadership of the Progressive Liberal Party, the team of which I am proud to be a member. Others on the other side, in their hypocrisy have spared no criticism of Prime Minister Christie. But allow me a moment to back up my commander in chief. He is a good and decent man who has already done a great deal for Abaco. When we analyze how and why Abaco was able to fare so well during the recession, we must understand that it was the laying of the foundation of Winding Bay and Bakers Bay, which accounted for the creation of over a thousand new jobs and hundreds other spin off opportunities during the worst financial crisis since the great depression. That’s the kind of man he is – a humble and compassionate leader, with an unmatched foresight for true progress.

SO when they start talking their nonsense, I can only excuse their ignorance, and say, “Father forgive them!” But you know, enough of that. They have nothing to offer you North Abaco, so they had to resort to half truths, lies and innuendo.

I’ve stuck to my plans for the further development of our homes and communities. I’ve stuck to my commitment to ensuring that Abaconians have access to the best education and training opportunities that a Government can provide – from pre-school, all the way to tertiary academics and training. And since, my colleague, the Minister of Education has already delivered on pre-schools, let me spend a moment discussing what second hand training will mean for the workforce of North Abaco.

Bahamahost and BTVI, training intitiatives through BAIC for our farmers and fishermen, seed money from the Bahamas Development Band and other Government initiatives mean that not only will native Abaconians be better equipped to fill 21st century jobs but it means North Abaco that we do not have to limit ourselves as employees.

Through the creation of small businesses and entrepreneurship, in partnership this PLP Government with your PLP Member of Parliament, a son of the soil, we can now become employers and meaningful players in our expanding economy.

Abaco is fast outpacing the development of all other family Islands. It very soon may rival the second city, Freeport, and there is still so much potential left untapped. If we seize this new day, if we embrace this opportunity to have one of us, sitting at the table of Governance, who has a heart for you the people, can you imagine what the next 5 years or more will mean, if we are poised and ready?

This is why I am so excited to serve at this very moment in history because the future is ours North Abaco, and this future begins in a matter of days. SO I ask, one more time, are you ready for a new day? Are you ready for a Government that believes in you and wants to partner with you to see you prosper hand in hand with the success of Abaco? I’m ready! I’m ready to do my part, if you promise to do yours.

So come Monday, I hope and I pray, that you are led to choose Curry and the PLP. You know I will be here for you no matter what. But oh what joy if you choose me to represent you! Now, I’m going to my church tomorrow morning. You are welcomed to join me. Then tomorrow evening after tying up a few loose ends, I’m going to go home early to my wife and kids. I urge you to do the same.

Then bright and early Monday morning – go do that thing! You know what I mean. So that by Monday evening we will hear Curry Curry Curry Curry Curry Curry – ALL THE WAY! GOD BLESS YOU! GOODNIGHT!
