Boomer G Squads To Bring Out The Brooms

Team sponsor Boomer G will have to wait a couple more hours before he can celebrate a possible double victory in the New Providence Softball Association (NPSA). Both his teams, the Boomer G Lady Operators and the Boomer G Truckers are playing in the championships series, that will resume on Tuesday. No games were played on Saturday. The Lady Operators are up three games in the best of seven series, against the Dorin United Lady Hitmen. Boomer G is hoping that the Lady Operators close the series out on Tuesday.

Head coach for the Lady Operators Mario Ford would love to sweep the series. In fact he said it will be a perfect ending to a long season. "We know that we only have one more game to win, but we won't take anything for granted when we step out and play," said Ford. "The next team wants it just as bad as we do. They are going to come out there and play hard. All we need to do is go out there and execute the game plan. Once we are able to play good defense, allow them to make the mistakes and we capitalize on them, we should be able to come out on top.

"We want to close out Tuesday. Anything can happen if we let the game or series continue on. That is why it is important to keep them down while they are. In order to do that, we will have to play the way we have been playing. Not concern ourselves too much about their offense, but the defense. We need to keep them off stride. Let them commit to making the mistakes, and we score off them. I don't know what their game plan is, but they haven't been showing me much. We know what we hope to do." The Lady Operators are no strangers to what they are calling 'the big championship dance'. The team has played in the championships before, but came up short on several occasions.

According to Ford, this is the team's 12th year in the NPSA. The win will be a huge accomplishment for the team and all the fans. Ford will have to make some adjustments to the line-up and field positioning. On Thursday, the starting centerfielder went down and will be out for the rest of the season. Ford said she does play an integral role on the defense, but the team is focused and ready to bring home the win. He added: "Pitching will be key for us again. We've lost our centerfielder and that may hurt us.

But I am sure all the ladies are ready to play. That made them hungrier for the win. Yes, adjustments will be made. The team is deep and we can make the necessary changes. We will miss her on the field, but we have to play hard to close out. She is a big miss for us, offensively and defensively. "Winning the championships will be a huge accomplishment for the franchise. This will be the first championships since they've been in the league, and since I have taking over the team three years ago. The win will be especially for the sponsor.

He has been committed and dedicated to us over those years. The players who have been there from inception. I know that they are going to enjoy the championship win. It will mean a whole lot for them." This is the first year Boomer G is sponsoring the Truckers' squad. Over the past years, the Truckers team has dominated the NPSA, capturing numerous titles. The men's team would like to give Boomer G a taste of championship glory. The opening pitch in the women's game will be tossed at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, at the Bankers Field, Baillou Hill Sporting Complex. The men's match will follow immediately after.
