Grand Bahama Catholic High student Tia Duncombe takes home GBPA scholarship award

On Friday, 24th April 2009 Miss Tia Duncombe, a student of the Grand Bahama Catholic High School emerged as winner of the second annual ?The Customer 1st Associates Ltd.? High School Speech and Debate Contest. The competition took place at the Foster B. Pestaina Parish Hall of Pro-Cathedral, Christ The King.

Speaking on the topic ?Customer Service is the Heart of an Economy,? Miss Duncombe wooed the judges and audience with her eloquent speech and poised presentation.

During the competition, a seven minute infomercial promoting The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited?s (GBPA) ?Making It Happen!' education initiative was presented. Focusing on the GBPA ?Top Achiever? Scholarship programme, the infomercial highlighted GBPA?s commitment to assisting in providing achieving students the opportunity to receive a quality education.

The infomercial also highlighted Mrs. Ginger Moxey, a past recipient of the GBPA Scholarship and Summer Student Programme, now serving as Vice President for Port Group Limited. ?The Grand Bahama Port Authority made that difference,? stated Moxey as she shared the story of her GBPA journey.

Director of Training and Social Programmes, Mrs. Geneva Rutherford was present on behalf of the GBPA Group to congratulate Miss Duncombe on her victory of the competition and the GBPA Scholarship award.
