SEVEN DAY WEATHER FORECAST FROM 7TH – 13TH AUGUST, 2012

GENERAL SITUATION: THE NORTHERN TIP OF A WEAK TROPICAL WAVE WILL MOVE ACROSS THE ISLANDS WEDNESDAY THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY. A STRONGER, DEEP LAYER TROUGH IS TO DRIFT SLOWLY WESTWARD ACROSS THE ISLANDS LATE THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY INCREASING SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. MEANWHILE A WEAK RIDGE OF HIGH RESSURE NORTH OF THE ISLANDS WILL HANG AROUND THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK.

Tuesday 7th – Mostly Sunny, and Hot but a tad Breezy in the Central and Southeast Islands during the day; Maximum Temperature 91°F. Mostly Fair and still a touch Breezy at night with Isolated Showers in the Southeast Bahamas; Minimum Temperature 80°. Winds E-SE, 10-15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas and E’LY, 15 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas; Seas 2-4 feet in the Northwest Bahamas and 3-5 feet in the Central and Southeast Bahamas.

Wednesday 8th – Partly Sunny and Hot, and still a bit Breezy in the Southern Islands during the day with Isolated Showers and a slight chance of an Isolated Thunderstorm; Maximum Temperature 90°F. Partly Cloudy and somewhat breezy at night in the Central and Southeast Bahamas with passing Showers and Isolated Thunderstorms; Mostly Fair at night in the Northwest Bahamas with a stray Shower or Two; Minimum Temperature 80°F. Winds E’LY 10-15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas and E’LY 15 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas Thursday 9th – A Mix of Sun and Clouds, a little Breezy but Hot during the day with spotty Showers and Isolated Thunderstorms; Maximum Temperature 91°F. Partly Cloudy at night with occasional Scattered Showers and Isolated Thunderstorms; Minimum Temperature 79ºF. Winds SE’LY 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas; Seas 3-5 feet over open waters. Winds E-SE 15-20 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas; Seas 4-6 feet over open waters. Small craft caution in effect for the Central and Southeast Bahamas.

Sunday 12th – A Mix of Sun and Cloudy and Hot during the day with Isolated Showers and Thunderstorms mainly across the Northwest Bahamas; Maximum temperature 92°F.
