Under the theme R.O.S.E.S. (recognizing our sisters encouraging success) seven sensational young ladies graced the stage at the RainForest Theatre on Sunday July 29th, 2012. The ladies were all poised and ready for competition to vie for the prestigious title of becomingThe Bahamas Talented Youth Organization Ltd's Miss Bahamas Talented Teen 2012-2013.

The audience was treated to an exciting opening dance number and then to dynamic speeches where the ladies wore costumes that depicted female monarchs in a segment called “Roses of Royalty”. As the evening progressed, so did the competition. The young ladies brought pizzazz with their talent numbers. Some were dancers, dramatists, and vocalists.

The Lights were on and all cameras were out as the ladies paraded their gorgeous evening gowns on the stage serenaded by past queens and contestants of The Hal Jackson Talented Teen Competition. The Miss Bahamas Talented Teen Scholarship competition is not only about enhancing the talent of young ladies, but it is about giving back to the community. Because of this, every year under the advicevof Dr. Corinne Sinquee-Brown, the committee selects a young lady who is suffering from cancer and crowns her as the little princess for the full year.

Some of the proceeds from the competition go to assist the princess’ family with medical bills. Before the new Miss Bahamas Talented Teen was crowned, Myah Turnquest was crowned the new princess.of 2012. Then there was the moment that everyone was waiting for. After all of the scores were tallied, it was Miss Jayme Pinder an honor student of Bahamas Academy who wowed the crowd with her rendition of Alexandra Burke’s song “Hallelujah” and who captured the title of Miss Bahamas Talented Teen 2012-2013.

First runner up was Miss Aaliyah Beneby of Government High School and holding on to the second runner up spot was Miss Anthonique Bowe a graduate of C.V Bethel. Corporate sponsors include Sojourner-Douglass College, BahamasAir, Cable Bahamas Bahamar and The Bahamas Orthodontic Center. The B.T.Y.O Ltd. committee and would like to congratulate all these young ladies for a job well done.
