WITH their main financier closed for business, organisers of a beach clean up project on Harbour Island are appealing for cash help.
Volunteers bemoan insufficient support from businesses despite the large percentage of tourism dollars the small island generates.
The Beach Clean Up project was founded in 1992 after Hurricane Andrew by residents Sharon King and Humphrey Percentie Jr, owner of the Vic-Hum Club. Participants walk and clean the entire beach daily.
The project receives $500 each month from local government.
