Hubert Ingraham should stay on as North Abaco MP

Dear Editor,

I agree with Mr. Kevin Evan's position in his July 1 letter to the editor that Mr. Hubert Ingraham should stay on as the member of Parliament for North Abaco especially now that I have read a report in your paper that the Free National Movement (FNM) is having a difficulty selecting a candidate to replace Ingraham. The likelihood the FNM winning a by-election in North Abaco is very slim.
Ingraham can give badly needed support and advice to the current leader of the FNM Dr. Hubert Minnis who appears to be inexperienced, inarticulate and uninspiring.
His deputy, Loretta Butler-Turner, seems to be more organized and prepared for her new role than Dr. Minnis is for his. Ingraham can assist Dr. Minnis with his House of Assembly presentations, which he seems to be ill prepared for.
By contrast, the FNM Senate team is very dynamic and aggressive. The public is impressed with the informative and politically astute presentations by Senators Zhivargo Laing, Kwasi Thompson and Heather Hunt.
There are other experienced FNM politicians who can also make a significant contribution to making the FNM a strong and viable alternative to the PLP. Former Cabinet ministers like Carl Bethel, Tommy Turnquest, Dion Foulkes, and Desmond Bannister should be an integral part of the FNM if the party is to win the next election.

- Committed FNM
