The air was buzzing with excitement as over 50 young women gathered at the Church of God of Prophecy's Love Center located on Ernest and York Streets to experience the event, "C.H.A.M.P.S (chosen, honored, appointed, positive sister) Girls Jus Wanna Have Fun" summer explosion.
One of the main focuses for this young women's group is to host training and mentorship programs for young women ages 14 years and older, to benefit the young women.
The evening commenced with interactive singing led by Glenise Johnson, followed by a talk on positive self image by Stephanie Rahming. Chiquita Bowleg addressed the topic building healthy relationships and Shenecia Williams spoke to the women on being the best they can be.
Participants were also given fashion advice on what to wear and what not to wear by Leah Wong, a fashion and design student. And that was complemented by a session by Kya LaShawn who spoke on utilizing accessories, whether for the hair or just jewelry.
After the women were empowered to think and create beyond their imagination, they engaged in a session on makeup application tips and how to wear it, especially in the summer months, by Krystal Knowles.
And as always, no event is ever complete without food, so the event ended with a demonstration by Cynthia and Cynique Johnson on how to decorate cupcakes.
