The Bahamas department of meteorology has issued a severe storm watch from 12:15pm edt until 2:15pm edt sunday 08th july 2012.
A severe storm watch is now in effect for new providence, north andros and their adjacent waters.
At 12:00pm edt satellite and radar data indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms becoming better organized between western new providence and andros.
There is a possibility of strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, and heavy downpours, flooding in low-lying areas, and possible waterspout or tornado activity during this event.
Boaters in the watch areas should seek safe harbour.
Residents in the watch areas should also remain indoors and away from windows until conditions improve.
