Master Technicians and Best Buy furniture’s ‘Fantastic Fathers’ wins $10,000 in prizes

Master Technicians and Best Buy Furniture has made it virtually impossible for one Bahamian man not to have a good Fathers Day, with father of two William Darville beating hundreds of other dads for the 2012 “Ffantastic Father” title and a swarm of prizes.

The stores’ second annual contest drew well over 1,000 people to its Facebook pages to nominate, and campaign for their favorite father to win the much-anticipated contest.

“We really just wanted to highlight all of the fantastic fathers throughout the country,” said Marketing Manager Samuel Thibaud. “Even though 75 percent of our customer base is female, we thought that this would be a good way to show the men some appreciation, and get them more involved in our promotions.” In total, more than half-a-million people were ‘reached’ on Facebook (which is the social media company’s term for having seen the promotion), while more than 6,000 people actually participated and chose a particular father as their favorite for the contest.

But, there could only be one winner and Darville won the competition with 1781 ‘likes’ on Facebook in total, which was 100-plus more votes than the father who came in second place.

Darville’s daughter Angiee was extremely proactive in lobbying people to her dad, making a plea for the public’s vote on co-sponsor radio station Star 106.5 FM’s show ‘Morning Express’.

When the 16-day contest came to an end on Saturday, Angie’s efforts had paid off, with Darville securing a grand give-away of one Toshiba 32-inch HDTV, a Simmons recliner chair, one HD Tango Box with three months of REVTV Prime Ultimate Subscription from Cable Bahamas as well as $200 of Video On Demand gift certificates, a co-host opportunity on ‘Morning Express’ and a live appearance on the show with hosts Tony and Greg.

So in the end, by following Master Technicians and Best Buy Furniture on Facebook, it literally paid off for Darville and others to be fantastic fathers.

Master Technicians – located on Village Road - is now looking forward to engaging fathers in this capacity every year. Like the company’s Facebook page for news of more exciting promotions.
