Police reported that a man murdered on Tuesday night was a witness in a criminal case, and was also out on bail wearing an ankle bracelet in relation to another matter.
Dario Dean, 23, and his mother Nora Mae Johnson, 53, were shot to death shortly after 10 p.m. at an apartment on Buttonwood Avenue in Pinewood Gardens, police said.
According to police, someone kicked down their door and shot them multiple times. Dean and Johnson were pronounced dead at the scene. The Nassau Guardian understands that they were witnesses in an approaching murder trial. Superintendent Paul Rolle said police had no one in custody and he appealed to anyone with information to come forward. Police also identified a man found hanging from a tree on Bernard Road on Tuesday night as Nakino Hall, 23. Police said they were uncertain of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
