U.S. Embassy Provides Bahamas Government with close to 2.5M in CBSI Funding To Fight Crime and Combat Drug Trafficking

Nassau, Bahamas - On Thursday, May 3, U.S.
Chargé d'Affaires John Dinkelman and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign
Affairs the Hon. Brent Symonette participated in an official signing ceremony
at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to renew a Letter of Agreement to bolster
joint cooperation for counternarcotics and law enforcement assistance as part
of the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI).

The agreement provides the
Bahamas Government with close to $2.5 million in funding to be used for a wide
variety of public security and safety activities. Chargé Dinkelman highlighted that by signing this
renewal, the funding will augment ongoing counternarcotics and law enforcement
cooperation in the areas of interdiction, drug demand reduction,
rehabilitation, and corrections modernization...
