FREEPORT: The body of a missing woman has been found in waters off Eight Mile Rock.

The victim's identity has not been released but it is understood she is a 63-year-old resident of Hanna Hill.

Asst Supt Loretta Mackey said the body was discovered near the shore in the Hepburn Town area shortly after noon yesterday.

She had earlier been reported as missing by her son.

ASP Mackey said it is believed the woman may have drowned, but police are awaiting the results of an autopsy before making any official classification of death.
