Remarks By Bradley B Roberts Nat Chair Progressive Liberal Party Gold Rush Launch Exuma& Ragged Island March 27th2012

It is always a special joy to be in Exuma.

Firstly I wish to tell you that the Progressive Liberal Party will form the next Government of the Bahamas.

Perry Gladstone Christie will be the next Prime Minister of the Bahamas.

I am here primarily to ask for your support and to re-elect Anthony Moss as your Member of Parliament.

To support my request I invite you to seriously consider the following:

Exuma you will recall that your economy was alive and well when Hubert Ingraham and the FNM were voted into office in May 2007.

Exuma your sons and daughters were employed and were able to provide for themselves and their families and were able to generate some savings. Exuma as a result of the progressive policies of the Christie led PLP Government you were able to provide employment opportunities for Bahamians all around the Bahamas and in particular Exuma.

Exuma you will surely recall the announcement by Hubert"Papa Clown" Ingraham without any consolation proclaimed that Exuma was able to stand on its own feet and refused to extend the Family Island duty free status for Exuma which expired on December 31st 2007. This was the incentive that allowed Exuma to thrived and prospered.

As a result of the discontinuation of the duty free incentive for Exuma; Papa Clown and the FNM drove a sharp rusty dagger thru the economic heart of Exuma. A well-known Long Island contractor told me he lost millions of dollars as he was obligated to deliver on executed contracts based on the duty free status. Constructions by Exumians and second homeowners virtually came to a halt. Construction jobs evaporated.

Exumians we are fully aware of the pain and suffering you have been enduring as a result of the stupid policies and decisions of Papa Clown and the FNM Government. Clearly Exuma Hubert Ingraham and the FNM failed to put the interest of Bahamians first.

The record is clear the South Beach Constituency has been stuck with a do nothing, posturing and trifling MP who is not only a stranger to the truth, but is a serial failure and a terrible Member of Parliament. Exuma Phenton Neymour whom the people of South Beach strongly rejected was right there smiling and cheering Papa Clown on and held guide the rusty sword that Hubert Ingraham drove through the economic heart of Exuma.

Yes Phenton Neymour had no interest what so ever then in the welfare and well-being of Exumians, and now he has come to ask you to vote for him and the FNM. Exumians, the PLP Government finalized plans for the construction of a badly needed New Clinic here in George Town and the NIB then headed by Philip Brave Davis approved the funding. Hubert "Papa Clown" supported by Phenton Neymour put the project on hold and after almost five years they are promising to build the Clinic.

Again Exumians the PLP Government also finalized plans for the construction of a long overdue new LN Coakley High School. The property was cleared and the architect was instructed to invite bids. This project was also a victim of the dreaded Stop, Review and Cancel Policy of this outgoing FNM administration.

The FNM's terrible mismanagement and riff-off of the New Providence Roads was but one of many. Exumians you will recall on Jan 14th 2011 a $325,000 contract for the George Town Dock with much fanfare was signed with an Exuma Contractor with no prior experience in building or repairing docks. The projected completion date was 90 days.

At the contract signing ceremony, Phenton Neymour boasted that he was happy that a native of Exuma was awarded the contract. Neymour endorsed the contract knowing full well that the contractor had no prior experience. So here we are some 15 months later - monies spent and wasted and the dock is in much worse condition than it was before the contract was signed.

Like the NPRIP, only God knows when the dock will be completed. That is yet another example of terrible and indecent mismanagement by Phenton Neymour and the hapless FNM Government.

Still another example is Phenton Neymour and Earl "Helicopter" Deveaux collaborating on the approval to allow dredging at Bell Island following a donation of one Million Dollars to the Bahamas National Trust. It is clear as day that they both turned their backs on the environment. Hubert, Earl and Phenton are "Public Enemies of the Environment".

Ladies and gentlemen, I offer one final example of the negligence and the ineptitude of the Bopsie twins", Phenton Neymour and Earl Deveaux. Those two men ran BEC into the ground resulting in increased BEC rates compared to the PLP's record of reducing rates.

There have been major blackouts under Neymour's watch and it continues to-date because of the FNM government failed to maintain existing BEC power plants and failed to build new ones to meet increased power demands.

With a grossly over-budgeted $125 million brand new power plant in Abaco, the FNM gang cannot provide uninterrupted power there.

The dismal state of BEC was confirmed by the Government appointed BEC consultants who disclosed "that political interference has resulted in "low operating efficiency" and "misuse" of the Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC)".

More than a year has elapsed since the GOB signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese Construction Company for a port and by-pass highway here in Exuma. Exuma have you heard about this project since. I can tell you Exuma that Papa Clown has executed a contract which was announced at the same for the North Abaco Port and by-pass road; and a bridge between little and Great Abaco.

Exuma I invite you to seriously consider and return Anthony Moss as your Member of Parliament Tony is an honest and trustworthy man, he is family man and is a deacon at St. John's Baptist Church.

His record of public service transcends politics as he has made significant contributions to the civic life and overall development of The Exumas. Some of his civic and community involvement include membership in the Exuma Basketball Association, the Exuma Softball Association, Exuma Junkanoo and president of the Commonwealth Spiritual Convention.

Exuma, many lives have been touched and positively impacted by Anthony. His leadership, sincerity and especially his generosity with his time and talents with the youth make him a very attractive candidate.

We fully expect that The Exumas and Ragged Island will remain within the PLP's family as Mr. Moss now stands ready to serve the good people of The Exumas and Ragged Island after the 2012 General Elections.

Vote Anthony Moss!

Vote PLP!

Thank you, good night and may God bless you.
