Online Application for Lyford Cay Foundation Scholarships is Open Awards Include The Harry Moore Memorial Scholarship in the Arts

Lyford Cay Foundation, Inc. and The Canadian Lyford Cay Foundation are now accepting online applications from Bahamian citizens for academic and technical training and vocational scholarships for study at approved institutions in the U.S., Canada, the UK and the Caribbean. All applications must be made through the Foundations’ website.

General academic scholarships are available at undergraduate, graduate and doctorate levels for study in a wide range of subjects considered to be valuable to the economic needs of The Bahamas.

Technical training and vocational scholarships are designed for individuals who wish to upgrade skills in areas where there is a shortage of well-qualified Bahamians in the work force.

The Foundations also offer specialised scholarships for which students can apply based on their field of study. These include The Harry Moore Memorial Scholarship in the Arts. Named after the former Foundation Chairman who was a great arts aficionado, this award is worth up to $10,000 per annum for study at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with preference given to the latter. The approved disciplines are: music composition, voice, instrument, theatre arts, visual arts, poetry, fiction writing, playwriting, film, and arts education.

The current deadline for online Academic scholarship applications is March 31, 2012. Completed Technical scholarship applications must be received online by May 1, 2012.
