YEAH Ministries, the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship and Bahamas Faith Ministries TYC (Total Youth Church) have come together to address God's plan for sexuality (GPS).
Organizers are seeking to help those who want answers about their increasing confusion about sex and human sexuality, politics and broader society struggles.
Issues will be addressed through a series of events, February 24-26 during a workshop at the Bahamas Faith Ministry's Diplomat Center, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
One of the features of the event is a certification workshop in partnership with Exodus International, a biblically-based workshop on the church's response to homosexuality.
The event is expected to provide parents, youth workers, pastors, music ministers, guidance counselors, and the youth with vital information to assist in effectively relating to and counseling persons who have been caught up, or influenced into alternative lifestyles, in a non-discriminatory and non-judgmental way.
Guest facilitators for the workshop include Alan Chambers, president of Exodus International; Rita Jones Dudley, author and motivational speaker and Minister Allen Wicks, child welfare specialist and author of the book "Homosexuality and the Music Ministry".
The evening of Friday, February 24 will feature a production on GPS from Collage Entertainment, famous for their "Stop Likin' Man" videos. Landlord and DJ Counsellor are also expected to perform. Youth and family specialist Pastor Dave Burrows is expected to speak.
"It is our responsibility to address the most relevant issues affecting young people in the region from a developmental and educational perspective," said event co-host Clinton Minnis.
Pastor Burrows, author of the books "Sex and Dating" and "Sex 101" said if anyone should know about sex and how it is supposed to work, it would have to be the one who made it. "So no matter what perspective you have, His perspective is the most important," he said.
A comprehensive training manual, certificate of participation and lunch and snacks will be provided for the certification workshop and are included in the registration fee of $200 with special discounts for groups. Discounted rates can be obtained by contacting 461-6430, tyc@bfmmm.com or davyb@ coralwave.com.
