The governor general of The Bahamas was presented with a bronze sculpture at Government House by Bahamian artist Tyler Johnston this month. The governor general recently visited Johnston Art Studio's in Little Harbour, Abaco and was given a tour of the bronze casting foundry and artist studio

The Bahamian national monuments of Sir Milo Butler and The Bahamian Woman and Child were sculpted at the Little Harbour Art Studio. Presenting the bust was Bahamian artist and filmmaker Tyler Johnston, grandson of the internationally known sculptor Randolph Johnston.

Recently Johnston's short movie '5 Bones' won the First Look award at the Bahamas International Film Festival. Johnston presented the sculpture on behalf of his father Peter Johnston. The sculpture of a green turtle was made in Little Harbour on Abaco, using an ancient bronze casting technique.

The studio in Little Harbour is the only bronze casting foundry in The Bahamas and has created special methods of casting bronze that only exist in The Bahamas. Johnston Studio's is presenting the sculpture to the governor general as a formal gift, thanking him for his visit to Little Harbour and for his acknowledgment of the valuable cultural contributions that Johnston has made to Bahamian society.
