SAC dominates BAAA High School Relays

The St. Augustine's College (SAC) Big Red Machine added another high school track and field title to its collection on Saturday, capturing five divisions at the annual Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations' (BAAA) High School Relays.
The Big Red Machine ran off with the under-15, under-17, under-20 women and the under-13 boys divisions. The Queen's College Comets carted off three titles, inclusive of the under-13, under-15 and under-17 boys divisions. Moore's Island and C.R. Walker both won one division each.
In the under-13 girls division, the Comets scored 22 points. They won the 4x200 meters (m) in 2:00.94, and Jordan Prince William was second in 2:13.52. The time of 5:21.92 was turned in by the Comets in the under-13 girls 4x400m, and 14:37.62 was posted in the 4x800m for the win. The Falcons won the 800m sprint medley in 2:25.95, leaving the Comets to settle for second. They turned in a time of 2:28.09.
The St. Anne's Blue Waves crossed the finish line in 57.06 seconds to take the under-13 boys 4x100m title. The Comets and the Big Red Machine were second and third respectively. The Blue Waves also won the 4x400m, in 4:46.47. They had a final total of 12 points and placed second overall in that division.
The 30 points accumulated overall by the Big Red Machine in the under-15 girls division came as a result of a 4x100m, 4x200m, 1,600m relay, 4x800m and the 800 sprint medley sweep. The Comets were second with 15 points, the Falcons closed with 12 points and the Blue Waves had six.
Only one point separated the Big Red Machine and the Comets in the under-17 girls division. The Big Red Machine scored 22 points and the Comets had 21, while the C.R. Walker Knights tallied 19. The Comets won the 4x100m and the 4x200m in times of 48.53 seconds and 1:43.63 respectively. They also took the 4x400m relay, in 4:07.29. The Big Red Machine and the Knights settled for second and third in all three events.
The Knights reversed the placing in the 4x800m, winning the event in 10:51.81, the Big Red Machine crossed the finish line in 10:59.50 and the Comets finished in third in 11:04.69.
The Comets swept the under-17 boys division by winning the two sprint relays and the 1,600m relay. They edged the Big Red Machine for the 1,600 sprint medley leaving the 4x800m title to the Knights. It was all the Big Red Machine in the under-20 girls division. The school won three of the five events that were held. Aquinas won the 800 sprint medley, and the Knights the 4x800m.
