The Free National Movement (FNM) ratified all 38 of its candidates for the upcoming general elections last night at its headquarters on Mackey Street.
This came a day after the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) ratified all 38 of its candidates.
Many of the FNM candidates are first-timers to politics.
"The wealth of talent among those seeking nomination has made our selection process difficult, very difficult," said FNM Leader Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham last night.
"In the end, choices had to be made. There are only so many constituencies; there are only so many vacancies.
"We in the party executive believe that we have chosen the best slate of candidates to contest the 2012 general elections, to win re-election to office and to equip us to continue to provide honest, accountable and transparent government for the Bahamian people."
The party ratified eight women: Ella Lewis (Centreville), Caron Shepherd (Englerston), Shonel Ferguson (Fox Hill), Heather Hunt (Marathon), Monique Gomez (South Beach), Karen Butler (Tall Pines), Pakesia Edgecombe (West Grand Bahama and Bimini) and Loretta Butler-Turner (Long Island).
As reported, six present members of Parliament are seeking re-election in new constituencies. Desmond Bannister will run in North Andros and the Berry Islands; Phenton Neymour in Exuma and Ragged Island; Loretta Butler-Turner in Long Island; Sidney Collie in MICAL; Kenyatta Gibson in Southern Shores and Zhivargo Laing in Fort Charlotte.
