Packed House – Throngs of attendees gather around the cast of Standing Ovation for autographs after the show. “Love That Child” is the follow-up benefit concert to the “Standing Ovation International Live Tour” held last summer. The benefit concert scheduled for Sunday, January 15, 2012 is co-produced by NBA Philadelphia 76-ers Dance Team Director Debbie Apalucci. All proceeds aid the Ranfurly Home for Children and the Children’s Emergency Hostel.

Local and international dancers and musicians will converge for the “Love That Child” benefit concert to be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Rainforest Theatre, Wyndham Nassau Resort. All proceeds will directly benefit the Ranfurly Homes for Children and the Bahamas Children’s Emergency Hostel.

Sponsored by BOB the concert is produced by Debbie Apalucci, NBA Philadelphia 76-ers Dance Team Director and Karen Rawlings, author and frequent visitor to Nassau, Bahamas. Local dance companies will be joined by 18 award-winning dance students from Apalucci’s Touch of Class Dance Studio located near Philadelphia. “We often see film crews come to the Bahamas, but the people of ‘Standing Ovation’ have made a real commitment to this country. We are more than a stage setting for them. When we have an opportunity to support events such as ‘Love That Child’ that directly benefit the next generation of Bahamians we are delighted to participate,” said Craig Woods, Film Commissioner, Bahamas Film Commission, which is facilitating the concert.

The benefit concert hosted by Funky D is named after local musician and former Ranfurly Home resident Damien Davis’ original single “Love That Child” which was released by BOB and Davis in November 2010. All proceeds from the CD sales aid the Ranfurly Home and the Hostel where Davis grew up. He will perform the song live at the concert.

The “Love That Child” benefit concert is being held in conjunction with the “Philly Connection” professional dance workshop on Saturday, January 14, 2012 also hosted by Apalucci and Rawlings. Registration for the one-day workshop is open to interested dancers ages 5 and older regardless of skill level. Every dancer who participates in the workshop will be invited to perform a group number in the “Love That Child” concert the following day.

Local dance companies and dance groups interested in participating in the concert should upload a video to phillyconnection@hotmail.com with the subject line “LTC Audition Video.” For “Love That Child” ticket inquiries contact Diane Phillips & Associates at telephone 394-0677. For further information on the “Philly connection” professional dance workshop contact Splashdance at telephone 676-3688 or email phillyconnection@hotmail.com.

“Love That Child” is the follow-up to the highly successful concert “Standing Ovation International Live Tour” held last summer, performed by the cast of the 'tween hit movie Standing Ovation. Initial efforts raised more than $10,000 for the Ranfurly Home and the movie's producer and team re-fitted the home with all new air-conditioning, windows, beds, kitchen, linens and much more. Proceeds from the “Love That Child” benefit concert will again be used to provide valuable items and upgrades to the Ranfurly Homes for Children.
