MEMBERS of the world-famous Bacardi family are transforming the historic Buena Vista restaurant into a micro rum distillery and tourist centre, Tribune Business can disclose, having agreed a 10-year lease for the site with its National Insurance Board (NIB) owner.

Mario, Jose and Pepe Portuando are investing in a project that aims to transform the property, situated between West Hill Street and Delancey Street, into a development that not only preserves an historic building but also ties into initiatives by the likes of Graycliff and the overall redevelopment of downtown Nassau.
