Hundreds of travel agents will descend on Sandals Royal Bahamian and Sandals Emerald Bay in the coming week as the resorts continue their travel agent familiarization season (Mega-Fam).

By the end of December each resort would have hosted approximately 1,200 travel agents.

Last week the season kicked off with an enthusiastic group of 196 agents from Philadelphia and Orlando. They were taken by private charter to Sandals Emerald Bay followed by a stopover at Beaches Turks and Cacaos and caped off their trip at Sandals Royal Bahamian.

During the two night / three day trips, agents will attend a training workshop obtaining a Certified Sandals Specialist (CSS) certification, have the opportunity to tour the select resort properties and experience the resorts’ Luxury Included® vacation as they are wined and dined at exclusive hosted events.

The agents will be given a sneak preview of the 17.5 million in renovations underway at Sandals Royal Bahamian. Including a transformation of the Manor building with all new rooms, suites and additional oversized balconies, a sophisticated lobby with

marble floors and stylish chandeliers. Beachfront rooms will also boast balconies with direct ocean views while new Bahamian Beachfront Walkout Suites will allow guests to step from their suite to their private patio featuring a firepit and lounge bed and then directly down to the beach.

On Tuesday Chairman of Sandals Resorts International Hon. Gordon “Butch” Stewart surprised the agents by showing up at Sandals Emerald Bay for the first leg of their tour.

“Sandals has always had a great love affair with travel agents, and that relationship continues. Seeing is believing and it is important for them to not only experience the incredible product Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort and Off Shore Island and Sandals Emerald Bay has to offer; but to see the beauty of the Bahamas as a destination and the warmth of the Bahamian people, that help to make these properties so special” Patrick Drake, General Manager of Sandals Royal Bahamian said.

This year the resorts are targeting agents from the Philadelphia, Minneapolis, New York, Calgary, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Orlando.
