Freeport, Bahamas - The weekend of October 1-2 played host to the 2011 Bahamas Optimist
National Championship, which for the first time were hosted in Grand
Bahama. 

The event was organized by the local sailing
authority Grand Bahama Sailing Club (GBSC) and by the national sailing
authority the Bahamas Sailing Association (BSA). The event organizers
were pleased to see that seventy six (76) sailors from all around the
Bahamas traveled to Freeport for the chance at the National sailing
title. Sailors came from Nassau, Long Island, Harbour Island, Governor's
Harbour, Abaco and of course from all over Grand Bahama. The Nationals
also hosted sailors from the Cayman Islands, the USA and even the UK...
