5.5 MILLION REFUNDS SHOW 'UNTENABLE' GB POWER WOES

THE GRAND BAHAMA POWER COMPANY was yesterday said to have reimbursed several major commercial/industrial customers "in excess of $5.5 million" for overbilling them over "at least seven years", a PLP election candidate urging greater transparency and oversight of its operations.

Describing the island's current energy situation as "untenable" and one that "cannot continue down this path", Gregory Moss, an attorney and former Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce president, called on the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) to "get its act together" when it came to regulation of the power company.
