BAHAMIAN general insurers are holding to estimates of a total $30-$40 million in total Hurricane Irene-related insured losses for the industry, several telling Tribune Business they were "totally shocked" that a Boston-based risk modelling agency was placing this figure at between $200-$400 million.
RoyalStar Assurance said it was estimating the total value of Irene-related claims to be $3 million or less, with Insurance Company of the Bahamas (ICB) looking at a similar figure in the low 'seven figure' millions.
This contrasted sharply with the revised estimates put out by AIR Worldwide, which reduced its initial $300-$700 million ...
