The Office of the Attorney General has abandoned the trial of a man accused of injuring another man and a little boy in a drive-by shooting.
Renardo Minns, 21, faced two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life in connection with a June 14, 2010 shooting at a Pinewood Gardens car wash that injured Tyson Deveaux and Anthon Whyms, four, who was shot in the head.  He was also accused of endangering the life of Anthon's mother, Abigail Whyms.
Police suspected that Deveaux was the intended target of the shooting.  The attack occurred exactly one week after Deveaux was freed from prison on a murder charge.  Deveaux was charged with the April 19, 2009 murder of Marlon "Marley" Smith.  He was fatally shot during an ambush at his Pinewood Gardens home.
Supreme Court Justice Vera Watkins empaneled the jury for Minns' trial on Monday.  However, all of the complainants were no-shows for the proceedings.
Watkins advised Minns yesterday that he could be prosecuted on the charges at a future date.
Linda Evans was the prosecutor and V. Alfred Gray represented Minns, who was on bail.
