The first school bell has already sounded but the glory days of summer vacation still shine brightly in the memories of every student. Whether they spent their free time at home with family and friends or jet-setted around the world, every child has a story they are itching to tell. The Nassau Guardian spoke with a number of students to find out about their exciting summer adventures. This is what they said:
"This summer, I went to Orlando and had fun at Aquatica.  It was like a dream.  I went on the huge water slide and on the river ride. I went to the British Virgin Islands, where I went to summer camp and to my parents' office."

"During the summer, my parents, my sister and I went to a water park called Aquatica, Sea World's water park in Orlando, Florida. It was so much fun.  We went down water slides and a river, but it was not real. It was one of the rides.  It was so much fun that I was not hungry.  Then it was lunch time and I ate a cheese and turkey sandwich really quickly, because I wanted to go back in the water.  My parents wouldn't let me, because my food hadn't digested. We went to our cabanas instead and I was upset, because we had to wait even longer.  My father was taking a nap and my mother did not want to go back in. After about 30 minutes, my father, sister and I went back in and went around the river ride about nine times before getting out. When we got out, it was time to leave, making it the worst part of the day. We drove back to the hotel and had dinner.
The following morning, we drove back to Miami, where we stayed overnight before leaving for the British Virgin Islands. That is where I spent the next two months of summer."

"I had a lot of fun this summer. I went on a seven-day cruise with my mummy and daddy. I got to see Miami, San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Martin, Barbados, St. Kitts and St. Lucia. I had fun. I went to Andros and I swam in the sea. I was there for a week with my mummy. I went fishing too and I caught one fish. I got to go to a vacation bible camp at the church near my home. I liked it. I made lots of arts and craft. My mummy liked them."

"Every summer I travel to the US but my mommy was sick this year so I went to the police camp. We did arts and craft, music, acting and went on field trips. I made bracelets, a bag and a picture frame. I got to see the heritage village and Pirates of Nassau. I saw animals at the zoo and I went on a boat ride. I also got to see an old folks home. The best part of the camp was the closing program. All the police camps came together and there was dancing, skits, singing and presents. My family came and I had fun. I can't wait until next year."

"When school closed I went to Eleuthera to spend the summer with my grandparents and uncles. When I got there my uncles were so happy to see me. We talked and played video games. Grandpa took me driving around Savannah Sound. A few days we went on the beach and I was so tired from swimming and playing around in the water. The Savannah Sound Homecoming was in July. I went with my cousin Cameron and we won many prizes on the punch board table. When my Grandma told us it was time to go home, we didn't want to but we had no choice because it was getting late. Hurricane Irene also came over the summer holiday and our house got hit. Most of the trees were blown down and telephone wires were down also. My Grandpa and my uncles tried to mend what they could on the house. My summer was filled with excitement. I can't wait for the next year!"

"For the summer I went to Miami to visit my Aunty Carol for four weeks. I went by myself. Auntie Carol took me shopping and bought me my own pool. I also played with my friends and went to lots of pool parties. I played with my cousins as well. Aunty Carol took me on the Metro Rail and I got to go to Chuckie Cheese's too. The best part was that I went to the Miami zoo and I saw an elephant, giraffe, monkeys, a tiger and a gorilla that made weird noises."

"This summer I played my Playstation 2 and I helped my mummy in her dog grooming salon. I learned a lot of things about dogs. I got the chicken pox and it was itchy for a week. I also lost my two front teeth and I got money for them. I got to eat out a lot and go to the movies. I went to the buffet and to Marios to celebrate my brother's birthday. It was really, really fun. I went to the beach and got to learn how to skate. I went to my cousins in Sandyport for a week. I swam in a pool all summer too."
