Suspects shot by police

Two suspected armed robbers were injured during a shoot-out with police on Saturday, shortly after the men reportedly held up a Pinewood Gardens resident.
Up to yesterday the suspects, ages 22 and 18, were in hospital in stable condition under police guard, according to police.
According to preliminary reports, a man was walking through Cottonwood Street, Pinewood Gardens when he was approached by two gunmen and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry.
The incident took place around 6:48 p.m.  After the men reportedly robbed the Pinewood resident, they    fled on foot in an unknown direction.
"Quick response by officers of the Southeastern Division resulted in the suspects confronting the police and opening fire on them while in the area of Sapodilla Boulevard, Pinewood Gardens," police said. "As a result, the police returned fire which resulted in both suspects being shot."
Police did not specify where the suspects were shot or the extent of their injuries.  No officers were injured during the shoot-out.
The officers recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition and cash from the suspects.  The cash is believed to be the property of the victim.
Police said active investigations continue.  However the men are expected to face criminal charges when they are released from the hospital.
