Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry outlines regulations for commercial fishing

WITH the country still feeling the effects from the global economic downturn, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Larry Cartwright this week outlined regulations which the government hopes will help boost the Bahamian commercial fishing industry.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the start of the crawfish season, Mr Cartwright addressed the guidelines which are expected to foster replenishment and multiplication of the species during the 2010/2011 crawfish season.
He said that August 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011 has been finalised as the appropriate period for harvesting crawfish.
