Fixed rate contracts hit taxis and tour operators

TOUR operators and taxi drivers yesterday said their fixed-rate operations have already taken a major hit from rising fuel prices, and further hikes would create even greater losses for their businesses.

Kevin Moss, director of operations and sales at Leisure Travel Tours, told Tribune Business: "We really can't change our rates because they're set in our contracts with different clients. We're going to take a hit and our hands are tied. Right now the price of fuel is very high, and any further increase, of course, would have a negative impact on our bottom line."
