Jury finds Randolph Brown guilty of murder

FREEPORT - A Supreme Court jury has found Randolph Evans Brown guilty of murder in the shooting death of Denny Rolle.

Chief Justice Hartman Longley has set sentencing for October 13. Brown, 26, was convicted of shooting Rolle in the chest at Cora's Place on Sergeant Major Road on October 8, 2010, following an argument over a cellular phone.

In his unsworn statement, Brown told jurors that he was defending himself from Rolle, 37, who had threatened to harm him.

The trial opened on July 19 before a jury of nine women and three men, which returned a unanimous guilty verdict on July 27. Brown was represented by Carlson Shurland. Erica Kemp and Olivia Blatch of the Attorney General's Offi ...
