FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- Organizers of and participants in this weekend's Downtown International Food & Cultural Festival (DIFCF) are busily making final preparations for the two-day event, slated for June 17 and 18 in downtown Freeport. According to DIFCF-Chairperson, Nakira Wilchcombe, there has been overwhelming support from international and Bahamian vendors interested in showcasing their culinary and craft wares, along with a host of entertainers. "We promise a fun-filled event for the entire family and our visitors," she expressed.  "We hope that with this event and other activities scheduled for June, that the city of Freeport and the island at large can come alive." Residents and visiting guests can expect to sample an array of Bahamian and international cuisine, with vendors from islands and countries like Andros, Cat Island, Jamaica, Philippines and others, participating. Crafts made from straw, coconut and conch shell, along with locally made bath & body products and jams & jellies will also be on display for purchase.  An exciting kiddie-corner rounds off the list of attractions. The festival kicks-off on Friday at 3 pm, downtown at West Mall and Petticoat Lane.
