AID on Wulff Road (Nassau) ablaze fire spreads to Shell gas station PHOTOS

JUNE 9, 2011, 4:13 P.M. -- Reports reaching BahamaIslandsInfo.com around 4:00 p.m. Thursday indicated that the AID (Automotive & Industrial Distributors) building on Wulff Road, Nassau, was ablaze.
The large structure housing AID's main operations and retail centre is located two doors west of Marathon Road.
These two photos, taken by bystanders in the area, indicate a major blaze affecting the roof and a large portion of the front retail section. Firefighters appear to be on the scene.
Updates will be added as they become available.
UPDATE - 4:37: People on the scene are reporting that the smoke emanating from the structure has turned from black to a lighter grey colour. Concerns on the street are being expressed over the industrial chemicals and tires being affected by the fire.
UPDATE - 4:45: People working two blocks from the scene have reported that light coloured smoke coming from the AID building is very thick at this time. Traffic on Wulff Road has been re-routed around the area. A strong odor in the air has been reported from people on the scene.
UPDATE - 4:55: Rain has begun to fall in the area.
UPDATE - 6:30: Reports from the scene say that the fire has spread to the Shell gas station at the corner of Marathon and Wulff Road.
